UCC28070A: 3-phase power factor correction up tp 0.85 with UCC28070A

Part Number: UCC28070A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28070

Hello,

We currently are running a dual boost using a UCC28220A with 600uF capacitance on the rectifier output 480sqrt(2) and 600uF on the boost output (760V) at a power level of about 32KVA max

We have been asked to increase the power factor from 0.5 (what we measure now) to 0.85.

We understand that a Vienna Circuit or other type of circuit is needed to achieve near-unity power factor in 3-phase systems, however, would the UCC28070A get us anywhere (maybe 0.85)?

I understand this will probably require us to greatly reduce the rectifier output capacitance so the chip can "see" some ripple, but is the chip fast enough to see the ripple from 3-phases?

Just curious? We have used the UCC28070A successfully in single phase systems and achieved near unity, but never in 3-phase.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

-Chris
