BQ25792: 5V input regulating to around 2.7V - not charging battery

The only issue I see on the schematic is /QON does not need a pull up as it is pulled up internally.  I would not expect that to cause the issue you are seeing.  How much current is VBUS pulling?  What do the status and fault registers report?

VBUS should be no more than 3A. 

The chip is embedded on with a linux host hooked up to the i2c lines.  I could wire into them and check with the GUI, right?  Are there any linux based scripts I could run to check on the status?

Oh my gosh. Is ILIM setting VBUS current? I have it set for 0.5A

Oh, wow!  First i2c chip in a LONG time that has been super straight forward to actually access registers and get at information.  I can peek and poke now.  I'll follow up tomorrow with stat and fault register outputs.
