BQ34Z100-G1: Need to have understanding of Life Cycle Characterization which is not working with the battery

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25713, BQ34Z100, BQ28Z610, GPCCHEM

Hi,

We have been working with Battery Life Cycle Characterization for last 2-3 months and still not able to get it through.

We filed multiple tickets and some are still open with not so concrete inputs.

We are using BQ25713 as Battery charge manager and BQ34Z100 as Battery Gauge.

Information on Rechargeable Batteries being used:

1. It is a 3S1P battery with only 2 terminals available

2. The battery has in-built standard 3S1P BMS module to protect batteries from under-voltage /over-voltage / over charge - discharge point.

The module that battery has is: https://robu.in/product/3s-12v-18650-lithium-battery-protection-board-12v-10a-overcharge-overcurrent-protection/

3. It is a Li Ion battery with NMC, NiCoMn type. Voltage range: 3*3 to 4.2*3 with nominal voltage of 3.7*3.

We first characterized battery for GCC Id and uploaded the data for GCC and GCC Chem Id that we got as reply is : 3288.

We got it validated with TI. See ticket capturing the same here:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/power-management-forum/985533/gpcchem-gpc-report-has-0-value/3660239#3660239

With this Chem ID, we are trying to take the battery through learning cycle and some how Learn Stat has stopped increasing.

We are following the same steps as highlighted in the ticket:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/power-management-forum/985533/gpcchem-gpc-report-has-0-value/3660239#3660239

But the reply that we got when we registered this issue over ticket is may be ChemID is not correct which is resulting in status not getting updated.

The selection of BQ34Z100 was considering our initial discussion on the same where we were asked to move away from earlier selected Gauge BQ28Z610 to BQ34Z100.

We would like to stick to BQ34Z100 as we might go with only 2 terminal battery output and we might go with different battery packs in future - like 3S2P or so.

Could you please help us, in a concrete way such that we have path with TI part that we have selected for our Battery Gauge Meter, how to get Life Cycle Characterization be carried out successfully and in timely manner?

Thanks and warm regards

Dharin
