TPSM265R1: ID'ing pin 1 and others

Hi,

I just got a bunch of the buck modules for a low power project but the actual product is a bit different compared to the illustration on the datasheet. There is no indicator for pin 1 and all the pads are symmetrical. There is a dot on the upper area of the inductor, is that the marker to go with ?

Any help appreciated.

Also it would be great if this part was available in a different package, perhaps with castellated pins or whatever, to enable easier hand-soldering.

Hi Soumitra，

Yes, Dot means pin1. If you need more information, we can discuss via email.
I understand it will be hard to do hand soldering. This package will have a lower parasite inductance and smaller PCB area. I'll let my colleagues know . Thanks for your advice.

Hi Victor, just to be clear, this is my module. So the dot at the top of the inductor signifies that is the top of the module (just like the notch of an IC). Am i correct ?
Sorry im reiterating as my previous attempt did not work at all (possibly due to solder issues) and another flew off the tweezers and disappeared.

Hi Soumitra，

Sorry to hear the failure of soldering. Normally it will be soldered by reflow soldering station . I think it will be easier if you can use a pre-heater together with a hot air soldering station..

Hi Victor,
Well i did use a hot-air station to solder it but since it failed i wondered if i got the orientation correct while placing it. Hence my question.
I would be happy if you could kindly ask your colleagues and let me know if that dot as shown in the picture is for the top-side orientation as there are no other dots indicating pin 1.

Ok Victor, please go ahead and close the thread but I just wanted to upload 2 views of the module, hopefully someone can identify the pin1 dot in here or at least give a clue about it.

Hi Soumitra,

As we aligned, we can find pin1 by using a multimeter. And there is a small dot on pin1.
