BQ25505: Minimum input power for cold start

Part Number: BQ25505

This question refers to the BQ25505EVM. According to the User Guide (SLUUAA8A) there are some changes to Pin and Vin for cold start (this is not clear). Could you confirm the minimum input power and voltage for cold start with depleted storage (VSTOR=0V)? Also, what is the typical input impedance of the board? Thanks!

  • Hi Juan,

The minimum voltage in cold start is 0.6V.  The minimum input current has not been fully characterized but is in the 20uA range, assuming only a capacitive load at VSTOR and, through the internal PFET body diode, VBAT.  The input impedance is also difficult to characterize since VIN_DC is the input to a switching converter with FETs that turn on and off, thereby changing the input impedance.   The maximum peak input current of the DCM boost converter after cold start is 220mA.

    Regards,

    Jeff
