DCR021205: the OCP behavior and short threshold of DCR021205P

Part Number: DCR021205
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: REG103

Dear,

We are promoting this part now, and we have several questions about it, so could you kindly help us check them?

This part has no OCP function, and only has OTP and short protection, so we want to know:

  1. For the short projection, we want to know more detailed information, such as the current threshold, and what’s the behavior after short protection, retry or latch? And the short projection is handle by LDO?
  2. This part has no OCP, so the Vout will drop with Iout increase? If yes, so whether power module will be damaged if we increase the Iout very slow?

Thanks,

Antony

  • Antony,

I have contacted the team and we will get back to you today or Monday.

  • Hi Anthony,

    1. The DCR021205 has a current limit threshold of 700 mA (typ). The current limit protection is internal to the LDO (REG103). When the overcurrent condition is removed, the device will restart.

    2. The device does have OCP which will reduce the output voltage and reduce the current draw. The device should protect itself from a slow increasing IOUT, however, it is not recommended to operate above the rated current of the device.
