UCD3138ACCEVM149: I cannot see the PWM signal on DPWM test point of UCD3138ACCEVM149 (without EVM150)

Hello,

I bought a UCD3138ACCEVM149 to evaluate the soft for UCD3138A chip.

I download the file ‘LLCHBFirmware-1.2’.

Of course, the file ‘UCD3138_LLC_HB_UCD3138A.x0’ of it can be download to UCD3138ACCEVM149 and operate correctly. And we can watch and config it through ‘FUSION-DIGITAL-POWER-STUDIO’.

Through FUSION-GUI, I can use memery dubuger to read or write the registers.

For the first step, I just want to confirm the board work properly, and wonder if I can change the PWM signal by rewrite the registers.

However, when I want to watch the PWM signal, there are nothing genarated at the test points of DPWM0~3A or DPWM0~3B.

then, I also download the [HSFBFirmware-1.1 ], and the result is the same.

I dont know is there any method to debug it.

Or is there something needed to setup for the operation with out EVM150?

Would you please help with this problem?

Xiaofeng, the EVM code will only work with the EVM150. It will not output PWM signals unless it sees a good AC signal on the correct ADC pins, as well as acceptable levels on other ADC pins. To run the code without an EVM150, you would have to modify the code to ignore all the faults and to start up without waiting for a valid AC voltage. You would also probably have to bypass the control loop, and force a value into the filter or into the PWM code.

There are some much simpler lab codes at https://www.ti.com/tool/UCD-TRAINING-LABS if you would like to just run the PWMs. The labs will do a sequence starting with a simple DPWM output controlled by the DPWM registers through to a complete feedback loop with fault detection as well. Doing these labs will help you to see how the UCD works, and how to modify the EVM code if you want to.
