LM2592HV: LM2592HVT-ADJ/NOPB

Part Number: LM2592HV

We use the above LM2592HVT-ADJ/NOPB for several years, and so far has no problem until the last production of 550pcs in Dec. 2020 but already result in 60pcs burn out between input/output lead plastic. Which causes our closest attention and can't find any mistake on test setup, layout, component. Then we send the good/failure parts to third-party lab. analysis by de-cap the plastic. And only can find the input/output area is in melting. Besides that, no significant difference between the good and failure parts.

Since all failure parts are marked with "7CABTTUG3 followed with LM2592HVT-ADJ P+". Please help and check whether you have any record of this? Is it your company date/plant code? And what does it mean? Is there any quality report on this code?

The input voltage of this LM2592HVT-ADJ/NOPB is 50Vdc and output is adjusted to 13Vdc.

  • Hi Jerry,

Can you double check with your vendor and confirm if device was supplied by TI ?

  • For the long lead time from TI, our vendor usually bought this device from the stock market, so they only confirm it is a reliable source. But I am not sure whether they had purchased a fake part for us. I have sent the good and failure parts for the third-party decapping and can't find any difference between them. That is why I ask whether TI has this "7CABTTUG3" code and any related record of it?

  • Hi Jerry,

You may check internally if there is few pcs stock with old date code which had no failure record, or even the sample on board, then decap the old and new fresh part, compare if the layout is fully same on die top side,

  • We have this LM2592HVT in our product for over 3 years in total of around 10K, so far the failure rate is low. It just happens in end of last year with 60pcs damage in 550pcs production. And all of the damage parts are in code "7CABTTUG3". We have decap it and compare with other code good one. And can't find any difference between them. So I want to ask what is the code "7CABTTUG3" mean? Is it TI's code number format? When it was produced? And where? Or TI has any record regarding this code?

  • Can you take a photo of the part with clear top marking?

or describe the top marking in several rows as it is?
