UCC2897: UCC2897 OCP

Part Number: UCC2897

Hi Team,

According to UCC2897 Demo Board circuit diagram, OVP is designed, and OCP is primary side protection.

1. If we want to design a precise OCP on the secondary side, do you recommend which Pin of the IC to trigger? The OCP Function needs to be Restart.
2. If we want to design an OTP, is there any suggestion to trigger which Pin of the IC? The OTP Function needs to be Restart.

Please kindly help on this case.

Thanks and best regards,

Jamie

  • Hi,

You can use LineUV pin for both if both are designed to pull-down when each fault is triggered. If pull-up, then using LineOV.

  • Hi
There has some UCC2897A questions want to know are as follows:

    1. After the Line UV is triggered, the model is Auto-Restart or Latch.
    2. Lin OV's post-trigger model is Auto-Restart or Latch.
    3. Is the mode Auto-Restart after CS Pin triggered?
    4. If the IC FB pin voltage is directly pulled down, the IC will automatically restart or be latched.

In addition, follow the following protection behavior mechanism requirements, whether TI has suggestions for protection design application lines can provide our company's reference:

    1. Secondary side OCP: need to Auto-Restart, (it was mentioned that Line UV or Line OV can be used)
    2. Secondary side OVP: demand latch.
    3. OTP: Auto-Restart, (It was mentioned earlier that you can use Line UV or Line OV)

  • 1. auto-restart

    2. auto-restart

    3. auto-restart, if CS hiccup is triggered, if hiccup not triggered, cycle-by-cycle current limit

    4. not latch

This IC has no latch function for protection. If secondary-side OVP needs latch protection, you would need to add external circuit to achieve, for example to use a crow-bar circuit.
