TPS2042B: Over current threshold

Part Number: TPS2042B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25221

Hi Team,

My customer is just evaluating TPS2042B for their next project but it seems that they think it current limit behavior is too loose. According to them, it doesn't get OC trip until over 1.5A condition.
They would like to get it current limit condition around 1.2A though, are there any way to change this behavior on this device?

It might be nice if you can recommend alternative device which is suitable for USB3.0 power switch. So please let me know good alternative device if you have.

Regards,

Takashi Onawa

  • Hi Takashi,

Don't have power switch that can limit the current so precisely. But I think you can consider choose power switch with adjustable OC function device, such as TPS255x, TPS256x and TPS25221.

Power switch is used for power protection for USB2.0. I think it's fine for USB3.0 but need consider the signal line protection with other device.

For TI's policy, I will first click resolved button.
