BQ40Z50-R1: SMBC Slow Rise time SM Bus

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400

Slow Rise time on SMBC of SM bus.

Scope shots were taken with a 10x probe.  Device is also connected to EV2400 and the EV2400 is connected to a PC via USB.

What is causing this slow rise time on SMBC and not on SMBD?

  • Hi Randy,

It looks like there could be multiple devices could be pulling down the clock line or one of the devices are clock stretching. I'm not familiar with Microchip's IC EEPROM so I don't know if it is a master or slave device and if it is trying to set the clock in addition to the EV2400. Also, since you are using I2C and SMBUS in the same design I recommend you verify that your system compatible for both protocols.

    Best,

    Jessica
