TPS53667: Changing the capacitor in the webench design

Genius 9880 points
Part Number: TPS53667

Hi Team,

Customer want to know if it is possible to change the capacitor (electrolytic to ceramic) in the reference schematic provided by the webench. Below is the customer details.

"

The design shows 10x100uF ceramic caps and 4x470uF electrolytic output caps for a total of about 3000uF capacitance. I would like to know if I can use 15x220uF ceramic caps to achieve about the same output capacitance.

It also show 2x270uF electrolytic caps in the input stage. I would like to know if those could be replaced with ceramic caps too.

Thank you in advance.

  • Hello,

You can actually click on the capacitor and "define a custom part" with the desired specs to check the design with your desired capacitors. All ceramic design is possible with this controller, though you may need to let Webench change the loop compensator
