TPS23754: Current Limit

Part Number: TPS23754

Hello,

My customer is using TPS23754 as the PD controller for a new product that includes a speaker, and are running into an issue where the occasional load transient exceeds the max sourcing capability of the PoE+ controller which causes the speaker to shut down. Is there a way to cycle-by-cycle limit the current sourced by TPS23754 to prevent this from happening?

Thanks,

Michael

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your question.

Is the shutdown coming from the PSE or the PD DC-DC?

It sounds like the DC-DC is the issue. Can you increase the output capacitance to provide the current during the transient? This will enable the output voltage to not droop as much which may be causing the speaker to shutdown during transient.
