BQ51051B: avoiding Qi communication. Is it possible?

Is it possible to use this chip without Qi communications? There is patent restriction on where the communication can be used. I was wondering if the chip can be used with the Qi features.

The BQ51051B will not work without Qi communication. The 051B will send information (CEP) to transmitter to set operating point, if the TX does not respond RX will shutdown. Also if the TX does not receive communications from the RX it will shutdown and restart.
