BQ78PL116: 0 cells found message prompt when connected to bqWizard

Check your equivalent of C8, C25, and R26 of figure 4 in the BQ78PL116 data sheet for proper installation.  Also check the regulator voltages VLDO1 (C23) and VDLO2 (C20).

The capacitors are proper installed, VLDO1 & VLDO2 are about 2.46V and 2.48V respectively.

The symptoms will be recovered when the switch reset which connecting to V1, V2, V3 and V4 of the BQ IC.

This issue happen during production, all is the fresh board and fresh IC.

Please advise which point I can troubleshoot and resolved this problem.

Hi Ben,

The BQ78PL116 is an old device, few people know anything about it.  It remains active for those customers in production.  

The part has a required connection sequence, see https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/102919/bq78pl114-bq78pl116-bq76pl102-power-connection-sequence .  2.46 and 2.48 do not sound bad, but your finding that the disconnecting and reconnecting allowing the part to work would seem to indicate something with the power sequence did not work properly on the first attempt.

Part damage seems to be the other report in e2e posts.  Yours should not be damaged if influenced by connection.

Based on your reply, I tried to have the wrong connection sequence but did not happen this issue again.

This 0 cell found is only happen on first time of connection.

Anything that can I do to confirm this issue is caused by the connection sequence?
