bq20zXX security FullAccessKey

Hello all!

I programmed a bq20z95 UnsealKey (via Manufacturer Access 60h) to be the same as the default FullAccessKey (as read by Manufacturer Access 61h). Going by the state diagram in the Technical Reference Manual for the bq20z95 (Figure 2-17 on page 61 of SLUU264A), I expected that this was possible. However, it appears that I can switch from Sealed Mode to Unsealed Mode via this Key value, but not on to Full Access Mode. Probably the Key is taken as the UnsealKey in this state as well, and nothing changes?

As I wanted to use Full Access Mode to read out a golden flash image, I'm stuck. Is it correct, that there is no way to solve this issue, or is there any way to get the packs back to Full Access Mode?

  • Unfortunately, it looks like you're stuck. The gauge will not be able to enter Full Access Mode now. In the future, be careful with setting the keys. If any of the keys are the same (PF Key, Full Access Key, Unseal Key, etc), then this will cause confusion with the firmware. Unexpected things can happen if the keys are the same.
