We are experiencing the same problem of the original thread I started with.
All of a sudden the fuel gauge stop communicating. No answer at all on the I2C bus.
The chip is used on a pet tracker (http://kippy.eu) It is not a frequent problem, but it is annoying. Our customer center reports 5% of the failure (around 5 units per week) conencted to the fuel gauge chip.
The users report that the "battery is not charging". Actually the battery is charging, but it is the fuel gauge that it is not communcating at all and because of this our firmware reports 0%.
The system recovers when the battery PCM intervenes to switch off the battery for low voltage.
The schematic looks identical to the application note. Specifically, we do have the 10K resistor on the BIN bin and de-coupling capacitor). No problem to share full schematics.
Thank you for your support.
