BQ27441-G1: G1A vs G1B Compatibility

Part Number: BQ27441-G1

Hello,

There is a shortage of G1A parts available at the moment, and so I wanted to know what impact substituting the G1B would have on system performance.  Would we need to redo all of the calibrations and configurations or would we see a drop in accuracy but generally similar performance?

  • Hi Adam,

Main differences of G1A and G1B are battery type, Chem ID and DM_CODE, refer to Device Comparison Table in bq27441-G1 datasheet. The bq27441-G1A fuel gauge is predefined for LiCoO2 -based batteries for 4.2-V maximum charge voltage, G1B fuel gauge is predefined for LiCoO2 -based batteries for 4.3-V or 4.35-V maximum charge voltage. Charge voltage is configurable but the Chem ID is not, so with Chem ID mismatch, the accuracy will drop.

    Best Regards,
