BQ24055 replacement

I dread you are mixing up different definitions.
The BQ24055 is NRND (= not recommended for new design), meaning that the EOL process has started, and not that from tomorrow on the BQ24055 won't be available anymore...
there are several steps from NRND (the first one) to EOL (the last one), and they can last some years to be done: this makes TI one of the softer -if not the softest- company in terms of impacts on customers when talking about making parts obsolete.

All the customers that directly bought the part in the last 3 years are automatically notified: so if you didn't get any PCN communication it is becasue either last time you bought the part was more than 3 years ago (or you never bought the part at all), or you bought it via an unauthorized distributor (authorized distributors receive -as direct customers- the PCN and then forward it to all their customers using that part).
No, the BQ24050 will not go obsolete, at least in the near/mid future (noone knows what can happen in 3-10 years from now).
As I told you before, the BQ24055 has 2 pins more than the BQ24050 that have no real functional importance: this was made probably for a big customer that drove the business and the definition of the parts (= this is how the WW industry works!). And once the business is over, so goes the life expectation of the part.
