EV2400: The EV2400 not communicating with BMS, previously worked before latest windows upate

Part Number: EV2400
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

The EV2400 is recognised by the most recent Battery Management Studio, but so far has failed to communicate with four different bq40z50R1 chips on different boards. I have checked that the 3.3V supply for the SMbus is working. Only one of the BMS setups had a set of 4 cells connected. Should I expect any communication if there are no cells to recognise? If not, is there any way, short of changing the chip, that I can discover if the BMS with the cells connected has failed?

  • Hi Andrew,

If you open the bqStudio(ver 1.3.80), it will acknowledge EV2400 connection if EV2400 is connected and working correctly even the gauge is not connected. You can see EV2400 is activated in the dashboard if it is connected as following.

If EV2400 is not displayed, it is a problem between EV2400 an PC

If SMB is not displayed,it is a problem between the IC and EV2400. If there is no cells on the boards, it will show EV2400 but SMB is not displayed.

Please, post your screen shot to see your problem.
