XIO2001: 5V PCIR with 3.3V PCI bus

Genius 17335 points
Part Number: XIO2001

Hello,

Is there any problem to use XIO2001 for 3.3V PCI bus system with 5V PCIR pin configuration?

Regards,
Oba

  • Hello-

As explained in the XIO2001 datasheet Section 9.2.1.1, for 25-MHz or 33-MHz PCI bus implementations, PCIR may be connected to either 3.3V or 5V. For 50-MHz or 66-MHz PCI bus implementations, a 3.3-V connection is the only approved configuration.

If PCIR is attached to a 5.0-V supply, the XIO2001 will only output 3.3-V amplitude signals on the PCI bus. The
received PCI bus signal amplitudes may be either 3.3 V or 5.0 V. The PCI bus I/O cells are 5.0-V tolerant and
the XIO2001 device is not damaged by 5.0-V input signal amplitudes.

Therefore, there would be no issues provided that it is a 25-MHz or 33-MHz PCI bus implementation.

    Regards,
