I am using the BQ76940EVM eval board and a 12S1P 18650HG2 (Chem ID 2125) battery cells.

SOC jump from 64% to 100% in charging mode and jump from 57% to 7% in discharge mode (See graphics below).

    I will review your log files and get back to you tomorrow. Can you also send me your .gg file?

    The jump to 7% during discharge indicates at least one cell is hitting the EDV2 voltage. If you are setting the CSYNC bit, the jump to 100% during charge might mean that the charge termination voltage has been reached.

    I will review your log files along with your gg file to see what might be going on.

    For the discharge cycle, the jump to 7% happens because one of the cells is crossing down below the EDV2 voltage threshold. For the charge log, when 4.2V is reached, the current starts decreasing. When it falls below the taper current for a specified amount of time, the battery is considered fully charged because the charge termination conditions are met. The CSYNC bit is set in your gg file - this tells the SOC to sync to 100% when full charge is completed.

    I think the full charge detection is working correctly. The issue is that the gauging is not accurate with your current settings. Did you run all of the calibrations and select the correct ChemID for your battery using bqStudio? This is very important to accurately set the voltage curve for your battery.

    Yes, I did the following calibrations:

    - Temperature (Sensor 1,2, and 3)

    - Ext. Average Cell Voltage (measured on the BQ76940 extreme cells C0 and C15).

    - Current Offset

    - Current gain at -2000mA (Using a CC 2Amp electronic load)

    About the Battery Chemistry, I am selected ID2125. Battery Data sheet is attached. Could you pleas confirm this is the right ChemID?

    I think you have selected the correct ChemID.

    One thing I notice in the battery datasheet is they recommend a charge taper current of 50mA at a 1.5A charge rate (which is fairly close to what you are using). I would change your setting to 50mA from 250mA. I don't expect this to make a huge difference, but it will give you a more accurate charge termination and will allow the battery to charge a little longer.

    The bigger issue I see is that the EDV_CMP bit in the CEDV Gauging Configuration needs to be set high. Otherwise, the gauge is using the Fixed EDV default values which is 3500mV for EDV2. I think this may be the wrong value for this battery. The EDV_CMP will allow the EDV values to adjust with each learning cycle which will improve the gauging accuracy.

    With these changes, I recommend to go through the charge / discharge cycles again. In order to tune your CEDV parameters to get accurate gauging, you will need to collect the required logs and submit the logs to the online GPCCEDV tool: http://www.ti.com/tool/GPCCEDV

    The tool will return the CEDV parameters that you will use to update the settings for the BQ78350. The new parameters should give very accurate results for the SOC readings.
