AM623: Differences DDR4/LPDDR4 DDRSS AM64x vs AM6232

Part Number: AM623

Hi champs!

Customer still uses AM6232 and now is thinking about using AM64x in future designs,

He wonders what differences are in both DDRSS's. From signal descriptipn they seems to be identical.

Can you please compare and summerize ?

Thansk in advance!D

Dirk

  • Dirk, AM62x and AM64x use the same DDR IP, so they are virtually the same.  The only difference is that AM62x supports higher DDR densities and dual rank:

AM64x limited to 2GByte, single rank

    AM62x can go up to 8GB DDR4, 4GB LPDDR4

But both are same as far as x16 data, max frequency 1600MTs

  • Hi James!

Customer is confused about answer when comparing TRM of AM64 vs AM62..

    AM62:

    Table 5-1:

    AM64:

    Table 5-1

This seems not to fit to your answer.

Can you pls double check ?

    Thanks Dirk

  • Hi Dirk, I'm not seeing the discrepancy in the snippets you provided.  I think the only thing might be dual rank.  I don't believe there is 16-bit dual rank on the market, that is why the layout guidelines only show 1 rank.
