AM1808 test condition for input current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM1808

Input current values is listed in section 4.4 of AM1808 datasheet.

I understand that

in case of  the test condition, "Vi = VSS to DVDD with opposing internal pullup resister ",

310 uA flows when Vi = DVDD, and 70 uA flows when Vi = VSS.

Is my understanding correct ?

And, does the positive value mean source or sink ?

The Min and Max values specify the minimum and maximum measured currents across the entire Vi range from VSS to DVDD.

The current will not necessarily be exactly 310uA  when Vi = VDD, and it won't necessarily be exactly 70uA when Vi = Vss. Due to manufacturing variations (process variations), this the current may be more than 70uA when Vi = VSS, and may be less than 310uA when Vi = DVDD, however the range of the current will be always bounded within the [70uA -310 uA] range regardless of the voltage value applied to Vi.

This depends on the directionality of the I/O Buffer. Please refer to note (2) below table 4.4 for an clarification.

  • I see. Thanks for you reply.
