AM6422: Inter-processor communication with FPGA

Hi team,

Customer is starting to do some preliminary work on their AM6422 module and see that an available peripheral is Fast Serial Interface (FSI). They are wondering if it could be used as a communications channel with the on-module FPGA. It looks to me like it’s meant for inter-processor communication with other processors (C2000) that support the interface.

They searched on our web site and online in general, but did not find any IP that would allow them to support FSI in the FPGA. Are you aware of anything they could not find, or of anything that might be coming from TI to help implement this in an FPGA?

I am wondering if you have any recommendation on methods to communicate with an FPGA from the AM6422 device. If the above idea of using FSI to communicate with the FPGA is reasonable, is there any information or material we have which could support the effort to make this work?

Not sure is the SERDES0 and GPMC have been considered.

Sreenivasa,

SERDES is planned to be used for primary communications. Any more details on how to interface with the GPMC?

Any information we could provide to get them started would be a great help!

Customer could start reading the TRM for GPMC interface and the data sheet for the available signals.

I am not sure if there are any references that could be shared.

Sreenivasa,

I actually got some clarification from the customer. They are using SERDES for a PCIe interface to the FPGA as the primary interface and were hoping that FSI could be a secondary interface. Sounds like this will not be possible.
