Hi Team,

We would like to read registers while the Linux kernel is running in CCS. Please refer to the image below. If there are alternative methods available to achieve this, kindly share them as well.

Our goal is to debug the kernel at the register level.

Yes, we are able to view the registers, but we need confirmation on whether this method is valid or not.

Using CCS, I captured the following register dump while halting the A53 core.

I observed that the register values are updated, but the registers listed below always show 0.

Could you please confirm if this is a valid method to read register values? Do these values reflect the actual CSI-RX registers ?

Yes, this should reflect the actual values, I was going to ask if you are able to see other register values different from just zeros 0x00000 for the other modules and you do.

So it must be that CSI_RX_IF0 (or any peripheral actually) is probably not powered/enabled, or doesn't have its interface clock active/enabled that reads/controls the MMR blocks (the Memory Mapped Registers Blocks) you may get just zeros. Make sure you have enabled CSI_RX_IF0 and the interface clock is running.

The other registers are showing different values.
If possible, could you please share the method to enable CSI_RX_IF0 or guide us on how to debug this issue?

Hi Alex,

The values are updating only after the streaming starts. Before that, when we check these register values without streaming, they are not updated.

Hello gopal sharma ,

Yes, you should be able to change the register value directly from the Registers view no? You could also pull up the Memory view and go to the register address and change it from there too. Either way should work for you.

Note hardware/software may keep overwriting registers for whatever reason, so you may not see the manual change.

Try it and let us know.
