PROCESSOR-SDK-J784S4: config gpio interrupt router with linux running on A72

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-J784S4

Tool/software:

Hi experts,

I am using J784S4_EVM with SDK10.

I am booting on linux with the SPL. And I load the c7x with linux remoteproc

I am trying to setup GPIO interrupt router to CLEC from C7x core 1.

I have modify the rm-cfg.yaml to setup interrupt router [56 ; 63] to c7x_1 (host id 21) and recompile the u-boot.img + tispl.bin

Linux boot correctly

On c7x, the sciclient Sciclient_rmGetResourceRange return start interrupt router id 56 and range 8 (as expected)

The Sciclient_rmIrqTranslateIrOutput give the CLEC event id 440 (as expected)

But Sciclient_rmIrqSet return -1.

When I launch the same c7x code in no boot mode it works (after updating sciclient_defaultBoardcfg_rm.c and using boardcfg_update.sh)

I am missing something when I boot on linux ?

Thanks for your help

Charles

  • Hi Charles,

May be resource conflict. Can you check the Linux dts to make sure the GPIO/interrupt is unused?

    Regards,

    Takuma

  • Hi Takuma,

It should not be a resource conflict. GPIO have 64 interrupt routers (from 0 to 63) :

    • router allocated to A72 [32 ; 55] (default config)
    • router allocated to C7x_1 [56 ; 63] (my config, was free in default config)

If it is a resource conflict, it means that linux is using other cores' resources.

    Regards,

    Charles

  • Hi Charles,

As an experiment, could you stop in U-Boot, manually load the C7x code, and see if the Sciclient_rmIrqSet call works on C7x side?

    Regards,

    Takuma

  • Hi Takuma,

When I load my code from u-boot, the config of the c7x GPIO interrupt router by the sciclient works (Sciclient_rmIrqSet return success).

But when I boot the linux, the boot is blocked

In the boot log, some IRQ index are not found :

If I remove the call of "
Sciclient_rmIrqSet" that config the interrupt router in my code and then load the c7x from u-boot, the linux boot correctly.

  • Hi Charles,

Looks similar to issue encountered in below thread:

RE: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM64X: GPIO1 interrupt routing to R5_0 running under linux

For the GPIO interrupts you are trying to route, could you try making that gpio instance as "reserved"?

    Regards,

    Takuma

  • Hi Takuma,

Hi have setup the main_gpio0 as reserved in the device tree. and reboot the board normally.

It don't see the gpio error in the boot log anymore, which was :

"davinci_gpio 600000.gpio: error -ENXIO: IRQ index 0 not found"

but the boot is blocked. It is the same behavior than when I have loaded the c7x during u-boot.

The last log is : Waiting for root device PARTUUID=ab1df8f0-02..."

    Regards,

    Charles

  • Hi Takuma,

    I have found the solution.

    The issue

The interrupt routers I am using for c7x are free as expected.

But the GPIO bank interrupts I am routing to these routers are already used by the linux.

That's why the Sciclient_rmIrqSet return -1, because it considers the interrupt router src is already used.

    The solution :

Each interrupt router have several output which are always enable (each output can be used individually)

ex for interrupt router 24 :

The A72 interrupt come from the GIC and the C7x interrupt come from the CLEC.

Therefore to enable the gpio bank interrupt on c7x side : use the same interrupt router as the linux

get the interrupt router used by linux (from your config rm-cfg.yaml), get the CLEC event id associated (from the appendix doc)

and then config the GPIO interrupt reg (located at 0x00600000 for module gpio0), config the CLEC event + c7x core interrupt.

Don't config the interrupt router, it will be config by the linux.

    Charles

  • Hi Charles,

Glad you could root cause the issue, and thank you for posting the solution.
