JTAG

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C5515

Hello,

I have several question regarding the JTAG interface to the TMS320C5515. First, I have looked at the Spectrum Digital's TMX320C5515 eva kit and noticed that they tied the TCK to 3.3 via a1k pull up and also pin-8 of the 14-pin header seems to be tied to the 3.3 via a 10K pull up. Also, I have noticed that in their schmatics that pin 8 is used like a switch that can  reference either the onboard emulation or an external emulator. For my current design I'll be using Spectrum Digital's XDS100v3 JTAG emulator.

Next, I compared Spectrum Digital's connection with the JTAG emulation (spdu079a.pdf) and XDS560 documents. In both of the XDS560 and JTAG emulation docs pins 8 is reference to ground and there is no pull up on the TCK.

Therefore, based on the information in either doc., should I tie pin 8 on the 14 pin header to ground and do not tie a 1K pull up to TCK?  Because I plan to use the XDS100 v3 JTAG emulation board from Spectrum Digital will it that matter that pin 8 will be tied to ground and TCK not puled up with a 1k resistor?.

Thanks,
