TDA4VEN-Q1: projectspec examples present in j722s RTOS SDK cannot import because core names are not recognized

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM67

I would also like to add that, for the specific case of TDA4VEN/AEN, the project templates can work as long as the proper device ID is fixed in the .projectspec, e.g. replacing TMS320C75XX.J722S by TMS320C75XX.J722S_TDA4VEN_TDA4AEN_AM67 in the file (in the two places that it appears in).

Using this method, it is no longer required to use CCS 12.x to create a project. However, this does not work for other TDA4x since there are no projectspec templates for those processors.

  • Hello,

I split this post from the original thread to create a new thread since this topic is different than the original one. I have brought this thread to the attention of the device/SDK experts for further assistance.

    Thanks

    ki

  • Hi Maximilien,

Can you elaborate this with more detail ? We are not able to understand the issue in the first place?

What ccs version are you using?

    Regards,

    Vinit

  • This issue is present in both Code Composer Studio 12.8.1 and CCS 20.2 on Windows 11.

In the J722S MCU+ SDK, the many example.projectspec project template files, the device value is "Cortex R.J722S" (for a project running on R5F core). This is as far as I can tell not recognized by the device support installed on CCS:

If I edit the projectspec file manually and change the deviceId to "Cortex R.J722S_TDA4VEN_TDA4AEN_AM67", the project import now works fine, both on 12.8.1 and 20.2.

  • Hi Maximilien,

As i can understand that there was an issue with ccs .projectspecs and you have made the workaround, now its working on your side.

Now, you are making TI aware of it.

Is it so? or you are facing any other issue which i couldn't understand?

    Regards,

    Vinit

  • Yes I have found a workaround, but it's still possible I'm misusing the SDK, or the SDK itself could be patched if I'm using it correctly.

The initial post was a mere comment in another question, and it got split into this thread by moderation team.

I do believe the workaround and clarification of device IDs can be useful to other users.

  • Hi Maximilien,

    TI appreciates your efforts.

We will take a look into this.

can you tell us how did you find the device id should be as  "TMS320C75XX.J722S_TDA4VEN_TDA4AEN_AM67"?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Vinit.

  • I created a project from scratch using Project > New CCS Project in 12.8, selected the correct SoC and core, and checked the device ID in the .cproject resulting file with a text editor.
