Migrating to OMAPL138_StarterWare_1_10_02_02

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAPL138, OMAP-L138

Hello frineds,

How safe it is to migrate to OMAPL138_StarterWare_1_10_02_02 from the earlier OMAPL138_StarterWare_1_10_01_01. My project is in the critical stage. Will installation of newer version overrides the older files. Since the directory structure is very rigid, I guess this may create havoc.

Regards,

Mahesh

  • Mahesh,

The most recent release of StarterWare added some new features, such as VPIF peripheral support and ARM+DSP boot for OMAP-L138, but generally speaking it did not move or rename files.  If you were using relative paths to locate library files or header files within the StarterWare installation, it should be relatively painless to migrate to the newer release since those relative paths didn't change.

That said, the newer version will not install on top of the old version.  So, even if you install 1.10.02.02, you will still have access to all of the files from 1.10.01.01 unless you intentionally remove them.

Please let me know if migrating to the new StarterWare release causes any problems in your ongoing development.  I will be happy to help resolve any issues you encounter.
