ARM vs DSP

Hello,

I want to ask a fundamental question, I know the capabilities of both ARMs and DSPs but in real life which is optimal for what type of applications, especially the applications that ARM is better than DSPs.

I'm sure there will be others who will comment, but here's my high level perspective.

ARM tends to be better at control code type operations. It's very efficient in this realm. Sitting on OS on top of ARM to be a supervisor for a system would be an example.

DSP excels in data crunching, things that require a lot of data to process and repeating some sort of algorithm for this. Filters, Image Processing, Etc.
