Maximum Current Ratings at OMAP-L138 Power Terminals

Yes, the recommendation would be to calculate the max current rating based on your end use-case and peripheral utilization and programming the power consumption spreadsheet for it, for the desired operating point/ frequency/temperature requirements.

This is traditionally how power consumption is reported and communicated on most of the DSP processors datasheets. There is typically no Imax specifications provided in the datasheets (unlike AM335x)

You do have some information on www.ti.com/processorpower , you can choose OMAPL138, however as you mention this data set is limited to 1.2V CVDD. For 1.3V/456 MHz it would be best to use the power estimation spreadsheet.

I do not understand your conclusion, can you clarify further?

You should be able to use the power spreadsheet to estimate worst case power for the end application, with 1.3V CVDD as the spreadsheet supports 1.3V CVDD. Originally OMAPL138 only supported 1.2V CVDD/300 MHz , eventually the support for 1.3V/456 MHz was added however unfortunately the power solution application reports were not refreshed.

These reports and reference designs are very handy in general, and were very useful especially when the power estimation spreadsheet was not available. With power estimation spreadsheet available, it is expected that the customers are able to leverage this tool for power supply sizing, putting their specific use-case.
