"no daughter card present"

Hello together,

i work with the AM335x EVM and for one week my board doesnt detect the daughter cards. I tested i2c in U-Boot and get following output:

U-Boot# i2c probe

Valid chip addresses: 12 2D 50

on profile 0.

I boot from mmc card with prebuild images.

Now, there is no fb0 and mtd available to flash the nand device or use the display.

Last week i got the i2c output:

Valid chip addresses: 12 2D 35 40 48 50 51 52 75

(with daughtercard and lcd board)

There is no change if i start the prebuild images or some modified stuff from mmc and/or nand.

is it possible, my board got an hardware problem?

Hi,

Are any of the LEDs on the daughter board or on the LCD board ON, indicating that these boards are powered on?

Please add a debug print somewhere inside s_init() function in <u-boot_folder>/board/ti/am335x/board.c file and check whether the read_eeprom() function is reading the board ID correctly (stored in header.name and header.version structure members). There may be something wrong with your EEPROM.

Thx for the fast reply,

i debugged the bootloader and header.name and header.version were initialized with:

header.name A335 SKU#01

header.version 1.2A

so this should be loaded correctly.

the lcd led is on.

Hi,

Are you sure the header.name is just "AM335"? It should be "AM33515BB" which stands for "AM335x 15x15 Base Board".

What is the value of board_name environment variable in U-Boot (when you type "print")?

The three chip addresses you are getting with "i2c probe" (0x50, 0x2D, 0x12) are located on the base board. None of the other i2c devices, located on the daughter board or on the lcd board, are detected. Even the ID memory chips, which are connected to I2C0. Perhaps you have some hardware issue with your I2C lines? Maybe a bad connection? Can you disconnect and then re-connect the daughter and LCD boards to the base board?

i solved it.

it was a defective contact at the daughterboard. Now it all works fine.
