[C6655] SPI 5-pin boot mode

Hi,

My customer spotted the old 5-pin mode in the C6655 datasheet, although the SPI peripheral only support 4-pin or 3-pin mode.

SPRS814A—August 2012 , page 32 it is stated that the SPI mode either can be using 4 or 5 pins – which are these?

Normally the SPI interface is 3 or 4 pins, where 4 is the most common used: MISO, MOSI, CLK and CS#.

Please clarify.

Hi Magnus,

In 4 Pin mode only CS0 is driven and in 5 pin mode both CS0 and CS1 are driven. Typically for boot you would use only 4 pin mode. The 5 pin mode was defined in the Boot spec but is not used typically.

Note: 3 pin mode is not supported in Boot.

Thanks Prabu,

The SPI peripheral on C665x only support 3-pin and 4-pin mode, so please ask the product team to remove the 5-pin mode from the Datasheet SPRS814 , section 2.5.2.7 SPI Boot Device Configuration and keep 4-pin mode only. This to prevent confusion.

I have filed a lit bug to take the reference to 5 pin configuration out of the datasheet.
