Frequency of ARM Cortex used in AM335x EVM and ICE V2

Hi ,

The hardware user guide of AM335x EVM indicates that VDD_MPU - 1.2V. So can we assume that a Turbo 800MHz processor is sitting on it as BOM does not say much on it?

The hardware user guide of ICE V2 indicates that VDD_MPU - 1.1V. So can we assume that a 600MHz processor is sitting on it as BOM does not say much on it?

Again please mark the link of the latest hardware user guide of AM335x EVM which covers revision 1.5.

Can we assume that the hardware design files on the ICE V2 link :- is latest? Or is some other repository maintained some where else?

Hi,

Board schematics can be found at links from this location: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM335x_Boards There is no new hardware user guide for the AM335X GP EVM. AM335X GP EVM has an AM3358 1GHz processor, while ICE v2 is with AM3359 800MHz.

I should mention that I am not 100% sure about the frequencies. They can be checked from the processor package markings.

So the voltage values on the User Guides indicate that these boards with higher end processors are running at limited speed, if we go by whatever you have mentioned . is it?

This is not correct. There are software mechanisms through which the processor OPP can be switched and voltage adjusted accordingly. See this wiki: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Linux_Core_Power_Management_User's_Guide_(v3.14)
