Hello,

As you know, AM437x USB controller does't support Battery Chager function.

my customer wants to add Battery Chager function to AM437x by using TPS2543.

Is there any problem about AM437x and TPS2543 ?

In case of AM335x+TPS2543, peaves mentioned some issues on here.

Hi Biser,

Do you mean we should not use TPS2543 for AM437x ?
Is there any other device instead of TPS2543 ?

Both devices you listed are designed to provide Charging Downstream Port (CDP) functions.

A Charging Downstream Port (CDP) is a downstream port on a device that complies with the USB 2.0 definition of a host or a hub, except that it shall also support the Charging Downstream Port features defined in the USB Charging specification.

Are you trying to source power or sink current with the AM437x based product?

This device has a maximum DP/DM switch resistance of 6 ohms. The USB PHY on the AM437x device was design to be compliant to the USB specification when there is less than 3 ohms of series resistance in the data signals. So the additional series resistance inserted by this device my reduce the performance of the USB port under some conditions. For example, the product may not be able to support the maximum cable length defined by the USB specification.
