Customer asked if there is a way to use PRU to emulate CAN interface on OMAPL137?

Hi,

Yes, Customers can use the programmability and efficient interface capability of PRU to enable special interfaces like CAN and Profibus for their systems.

There were old softCAN implementations for OMAPL1x family but please check internally with the PRU experts - as my understanding / recollection is while doable the performance and certification aspects were challenging.

The customer would be better off using devices with dedicate CAN controllers.

After checking this in more details, here are the recommendations from PRU experts:

For CAN support, can the customer consider external CAN on AM18x/OMAPL138 (or OMAPL137)?
Or consider AM35x which has one CAN integrated?
Or consider AM335x which has two CANs integrated?
