How to use GPU (POWERVR SGX544 dual-core processor) in DRA74x

hi,

Am working on DRA74x board. currently am using ARM A15 only.Now i want to use GPU (POWERVR SGX544 dual-core processor) in DRA74x. how can i use GPU. in DRA74x.?

my code is developed in C++..how can i port this code in GPU..? whether is there any tool chain is available for GPU. or i want to use open-mp...?

please provide me the procedure to follow...

Hi Niranjan,
You will have to use OpenGL APIs to program SGX .
kmscube application on your target is a good example which uses OpenGL and uses DRM API for rendering the display.

It is better if you can build yocto filesystem to compile all applications.

I want to use this GPU( POWERVR SGX544 dual-core processor) for Image processing applications, like Object Detection..
Am using Eigen And fftw library in my code how can i port my code to GPU (POWERVR SGX544 dual-core processor)

I have both Yocto and GLSDK 7.04 file system....

whether i want to use any opengl API.... or any tool-chain.for GPU..?
is there any SDK is available from TI to use this GPU...for image processing application..

please provide me the procedure to follow...

Hi Niranjan,
I am not sure if you can use SGX for image processing like Object detection. Ideally such algorithms will be implemented in DSP.

Hi Niranjan,

Let me rephrase what Ram Prasad said. You don't have an API like OpenCV / OpenCL on top of SGX. We support OpenGLES 2.0. You can use shader programs to achieve certain portions of object detection algorithm.

To achieve this, you will need to use GPGPU techniques. Note that all GPU render output is going to be in RGB colorspace. You have options to pass in YUV input as textures.

GPU is better suited for algorithms like 3D Surround View. To realize true ADAS features like object recognition, the better option would be:
1. Use DSP for image processing
2. Use EVE (Embedded Vision Engine) for algorithms

In GLSDK Kernel whether it is enable or i want to use other SDK..?

Hi Niranjan,

The driver is included as part of the PSDKLA release. The SGX driver comprises of 2 parts
1. a kernel module
2. user space libraries that provide EGL / OpenGLES interface

Both these components are part of the SDK.

GLSDK 7.04 based on Linux kernel 3.14 is more than 1 year old. I would strongly recommend you moving to Processor SDK Linux Automotive 3.x release based on Linux kernel 4.4. The last release was 3.01 made in Oct-2016. We plan to make another release 3.02 by end-Feb.
