Linux/AM5706: AM570x silicon identification in linux

I am wondering how AM570x devices can be distinguished from AM571x family in Linux. Looking at dra7xxx_check_revision() function in arch/arm/mach-omap2/id.c I can see clear identification of dual/single core devices as well as silicon revisions but it there doesnt seem to be any handling of the smaller package device.

Will this be done via omap_revision or some other means?

Hi Michael,

AM570x devices are not yet supported in Linux SDK.
I think they will use the same identification procedure as AM571x/AM572x & DRA7xx devices.

I hope so too, but the question remains what ID registers of the AM570x devices will be used for identification and how they will be different from those used in AM571x.

Could you please ask Linux team to comment?

Hi, Michael,

There isn't an EVM that we can verify AM5706. Though it is similar to AM571x, some changes are needed for AM5706. There is a document describing how to port it from AM571x to AM570x, processors.wiki.ti.com/.../AM570x_Speed_Grades

Rex,

the document does indeed contain useful information however original questions still stands. My customer has AM572x and AM571x based products and used omap_revision to tell them apart. Will dra7xxx_check_revision() be enhanced such that AM570x can be uniquely identified via same function call or different means will need to be deployed?

Today in U-Boot we rely on the contents of an EEPROM to detect AM571x vs AM570x, however we do have a DIE_ID register which does have specific values per device.

Table 3-1 Device Comparison in the AM571x and AM570x data manual list the part numbers in the CTRL_WKUP_STD_FUSE_DIE_ID_2[31:24] register.

The table below is a combination from both data manuals, so you can see the values together in one place:
