I want to use “timer functionality but no RTC-only mode” , but if power fails I need to give power backup threw coin cell or super cap. How to do in our design
Do I need to add VTT regulator termination in DDR3 SDRAM ?
Do TI provide us AM335x BSP (Board support package)

1. The AM335x RTC will not be functional when power fails if you choose “timer functionality but no RTC-only mode”.
2. See section 7.7.2.3.3.9 in the AM335x Datasheet Rev. J.
3. This is the Processor SDK download link: www.ti.com/.../PROCESSOR-SDK-AM335X You will need to modify the software for a custom board.

An RTC is needed in the design, and it needs to be maintained during power down periods, powered by a coin cell or a supercap. Can the RTC only mode, be used for that, or is it needed to add an external RTC?

Yes, RTC-only mode can be used, but the battery life will be much greater if you use an external RTC, as the internal one has a relatively high consumption and requires a stabilized 1.8V power supply.
