AM5708: PRP questions

Part Number: AM5708

On the AM5708, we would like to use the PRU-ICSS engines to support PRP (2 physical ports).

It looks like each of the PRUs on the 5708 has 2 MII interfaces.

To support PRP, is it possible hook up both my physical ports to PRUSS2 (pr2_mii0 and pr2_mii1)? Or does one need to be hooked up to PRUSS1 and the other to PRUSS2?

I cannot use PRUSS1 since it has a conflict with GMAC_SW0 (which I also need).

Hi RD,

Yes, you need to hook up both physical ports to PRUSS2 (pr2_mii0 and pr2_mii1) to support PRP, not one port to PRUSS1 and the other to PRUSS2.

The PRUSS2 subsystem doesn't seem to have a UART. The PRUSS1 does.
Are we able to use the PRUSS1_UART as a debug port to access the PRUSS2 subsystem?

Yes, you can use the PRUSS1_UART as a debug port to access the PRUSS2 subsystem. The Figure 14-3. Connectivity Matrix in TRM, shows the connection (functional path in L3_Main) between PRUSS1 and PRUSS2.
