Hi,

we install PROCESSOR_SDK_VISION_03_04_00_00_setuplinux.bin

setup pc follow VisionSDK_Linux_UserGuide.pdf

build ok.

then using "./hlos/scripts/linux/mksdboot.sh --device /dev/sdb --appname apps --makeconfig tda2px_evm_linux_all" format and init sd card.

everything is ok.

sd card insert device, can't bootup.

  • Hi Jack,

can you check that your SYSBOOT is configured correctly for SD boot as described in VisionSDK_Linux_UserGuide.pdf chapter"4.2 Preparing SD card & Boot"?

    Regards,
    Yordan
  • Hi Jack,
Could you also please confirm, that you changed uenv.txt file to pick correct dtb file
    i.e from fdtfile=dra7-evm-infoadas.dtb to fdtfile=dra76-evm-infoadas.dtb

    Regards
    Surya
  • Hi Yordan Kamenov,

we set SYSBOOT as guide's description. sd sw3 00001100 10000001

we prepare sd card follow chapter 4.2.

we found Windows different with Linux.

Windows need format, copy MLO, copy AppImage

Linux need format, copy boot, copy target fs.

when we need follow Windows steps and when we need follow Linux steps?

    Thanks

  • Hi Suryamani,

    we modified as your suggestion.
we just manual modified uenv.txt, but board can't bootup and log same.

    we try to modify u_boot config #define CONFIG_DEFAULT_DEVICE_TREE "dra76-evm"
then make linux and make linux_install.
we found uenv.txt same as before, so we manual modify it to dra76-evn

    Thanks
  • Hi,

    we prepare sd follow VisionSDK_UserGuide_TDA2px.pdf

but VisionSDK_UserGuide_TDA2px.pdf not description how prepare on Linux.
this log means our device is ok? and what we can do on Linux?

    Thanks
  • Hi,

    sd card content from "PROCESSOR_SDK_VISION_03_04_00_00_Binaries_setupwin.exe"

    Thanks
  • Hi Jack,

Are you trying to boot linux or BIOS?

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,

    we want to boot Linux.

but Linux can't boot so we download prebuild test whether device is ok.

we will porting camera and develop algorithm on device.

we not very clear what difference BISO and Linux, maybe BISO just boot loader and Linux contains boot loader and linux os.

we develop camera driver and algorithm, so maybe we need Linux.

    Thanks
  • Hi Jack,

From the log you have shared it is clear that boot was attempted two times.
Have you pressed power on reset in between the boot?

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,

    we not press power button.

we found the device will auto reboot.

Windows prebuild image also auto reboot.

    Thanks
  • Hi Jack,

Auto reboot should happen after 3 mins.
Is it the case? Did you format the card correctly?

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,

we not connect LCD and Camera.

is this will cause device auto reboot?

we using ./hlos/scripts/linux/mksdboot.sh script format sd card.

    Thanks
  • Hi,

LCD and camera should not cause auto reboot.
Is auto reboot happening after 3 mins?
You should format the card as per instructions given in section "3.5 Load using SD card" of VisionSDK_UserGuide_TDA2px.pdf.

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,

    we just modify under config:
    MAKECONFIG?=tda2px_evm_linux_all

    and didn't modify other config.

    in Rules.mk

    we found under information:
    #
    # Set BUILD_MACHINE to 32BIT as required, this is needed only
    # if A15_TARGET_OS is going to be Linux
    #
    # Options: 32BIT or 64BIT
    BUILD_MACHINE ?= 64BIT

do we need modify this? or our Linux OS must 32BIT

    Thanks
  • Hi Rishabh,

if we follow "3.5 Load using SD card" of VisionSDK_UserGuide_TDA2px.pdf
    format sd card.

we don't know how to copy files. Linux maybe need copy boot and target fs.

we found VisionSDK_UserGuide_TDA2px maybe only for BISO.

we found log output continuing, so we think reboot no delay.

    thanks
  • Hi,

You don't need to copy boot and targetfs. You only need to copy MLO (i.e. SBL) and AppImage.

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,

    thanks.

we will try windows sdk build Linux_all.

when we need make Linux and make Linux_install, and using mksdboot.sh prepare sd card?

    thanks.

  • Hi Jack,

You are mixing bios and linux builds.
You should set MAKECONFIG?=tda2px_evm_bios_all for bios build.
For linux follow instructions given in linux user guide.

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,
    From begin we follow vision_sdk/docs/Linux/VisionSDK_Linux_UserGuide.pdf.
And the device can't boot, and log has pasted.

And in VisionSDK_Linux_UserGuide.pdf we not found how to build sbl and appimage.

could you help and give us more advice?

    what we want to do:
    1. boot TDA2Px Linux OS
    2.porting camera sensor driver
    3.porting algo

    what we have tried:
    1. follow vision_sdk/docs/Linux/VisionSDK_Linux_UserGuide.pdf prepare build env.
    2.follow vision_sdk/docs/Linux/VisionSDK_Linux_UserGuide.pdf using mksdboot.sh prepare sd card.
    3.hardware config sysboot and userconfig.
4.update log and device auto reboot.
5.using prebuild sbl and appimage , deviec also auto reboot. we want using prebuild image to check device is OK. but prebuild image also reboot, so we don't know device is ok or not.

maybe we need focus on hlos, but we don't how to continue.

    Thanks
  • Hi Jack,

There is no reset issue as far as SoC is concerned.
Can you take a picture of the EVM and share.

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,

Do you want EVM board picture?

upper are our received EVM board pictures.

    Thanks

  • Hi Jack,

    Switch settings seem fine.
It is possible that there were issues with creating the card due to which reset is being generated.

Let us focus on BIOS for now and try to root cause the problem. Can you please do the below:
    1. Format the card as per instructions given in section "3.5.1 Option 1: Steps to prepare a bootable SD card" of VisionSDK_UserGuide_TDA2px.pdf.
    2. Copy SBL MLO and AppImage to the card and try boot.

If still the boot doesn't work then you can try QSPI boot.
See the instructions given in section "3.6 Load using QSPI".

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,
we have tried BIOS, and follow 3.5.1 Option 1: Steps to prepare a bootable SD card.
copy prebuild MLO and AppImage to sd card root folder.

log has update , and auto reboot.

    log like:
    TDA2Px SBL Boot

    DPLL Configuration Completed

    Clock Domain Configuration Completed

    Module Enable Configuration Completed

    TI EVM PAD Config Completed

    TDA2Px DDR Configuration

    DDR Config Completed

    App Image Download Begins

SD Boot - file open completed successfully

    TDA2Px SBL Boot

    Thanks
  • Hi Jack,

    Can you try QSPI boot?

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,

we found execute make -s -j
finally output infor: Final executable /media/jack/code/home/jack/ti/sdk/vision_sdk/binaries/apps/tda2px_evm_linux_all/vision_sdk/bin/tda2px-evm//apps.out !!!

but mksdboot.sh not copy this folder. is this correct?

    thanks
  • Hi Jack,

This file will be there in /opt/vision_sdk/. Can you check if it is there?

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,

    we will check it. Thanks.

By the way, is there a full sd prebuild we can download from TI? not rtos, we need Linux.

we means we can get full sd card content, contains boot and rootfs.

    thanks

  • Hi Jack,

Unfortunately TI does not release pre-built binaries for Linux.
You need to build on your PC.

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,

Could you help build and share to us?

    thanks
  • Hi Rishabh,

we found if we modify :

    spl.c board_init_r  remove jump_to_image_no_args(&spl_image);

    the device not auto reboot.

could you help check jump to uboot is correct?

    thanks

  • Hi Jack,

This seems to be a board issue.
Do you have another board where you can try the prebuilt binaries for BIOS and see if that is working for you.

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,

sorry, we not have another board.

From our debug, we found u-boot.img load complete and not boot Linux.

    Myabe this is SDK issue.

could you help double check this function "jump_to_image_no_args(&spl_image)"?

and could you help tell us where is funtion "jump_to_image_no_args" implementation, and where called board_init_r.

    Thanks

  • Hi Rishabh,

we change power adapter and get more log.

    could you help analyze? thanks

  • Hi Rishabh,
    we modify fdtfile, boot ok.

    Thanks
  • Hi Jack,

Glad that your issue is resolved.
Can you specify the changes you had made to fdt file.

    Regards,
    Rishabh
  • Hi Rishabh,

    At first, we modify fdtfile=dra76-evm-infoadas.dtb

but we find boot folder no such file, so we modify fdtfile=dra76-evm-fpd-auo-g101evn01.0.dtb. then boot ok.

    Thanks

  • Hi Jack,

    Thanks for sharing the resolution.
I will mark this thread as closed.

    Rishabh
