AM5726: Profinet class C

Part Number: AM5726

Hi Champs,

My customer would like to confirm if  AM57x base Profinet  realize class C solution.

So, when I look into this Profinet package,

http://software-dl.ti.com/processor-industrial-sw/esd/PRU_ICSS_PROFINET_Slave/latest/index_FDS.html

This F/W datasheet mentioned F/W support class C.

C:\ti\PRU-ICSS-Profinet_Slave_01.00.03.04\docs\PROFINET_IRT_Slave_Datasheet.pdf

However, when I look into this 5.1.6.1 Profinet IRT , this example code manual mentioned only class B.

http://software-dl.ti.com/processor-industrial-sw/esd/docs/indsw/profinet_slave/01_00_03/PRU_ICSS_Profinet.html#introduction

So, My understanding, F/W part support class C . However, this default stack sample didn't support class C.

If customer would like to realize class C, they have to get another Profinet stack from Molex.

Is this correct ? If we have class C stack , all sitara (AM335,AM437,AM57) support class C solution is this correct ?

Please let us know your thought.

  • Hi,

For Profinet stack, please refer to the note in the Profinet SW user guide:

"As per the SLA terms, TI cannot distribute the PROFINET slave stack code from Molex in source format. The evaluation library is provided with this release. For production use, one has to obtain the license directly from Molex"

The class B you referred to is applicable to SNMP stack only and it doesn't mean the SNMP stack is not sufficient for class C. For SNMP stack,

" Current implementation of the LLDP-MIBs are limited in nature as the integration between PROFINET stack and SNMP interface is incomplete. The SNMP stack available in the example is a limited version, and shuts down after 1024 SNMP requests." And "s per the SLA terms, TI cannot distribute the SNMP stack code from HCC Embedded / Interniche in source format. The evaluation library is provided with this release. For production use, one has to obtain the license directly from Interniche"

    Regards,

    Garrett
