BEAGLEBK: I2C/SMBus compatibility

Part Number: BEAGLEBK

I have a battery-powered system that is built around a BeagleBone Black. The battery gauge outputs data using SMBus, but the BeagleBone only has I2C. Do I have to do anything special to read SOC data from the gauge using the BBB as an SMBus master?
