  I set below in my system
        ScdIpcFramesOutVpssPrm.baseCreateParams.inputFrameRate = 30;
        ScdIpcFramesOutVpssPrm.baseCreateParams.outputFrameRate = 30;

   To decrease the frame drop, i already set
   ScddspAlgPrm.scdCreateParams.numBufPerCh = 6;

  But I still got the following log and I didnt found frame-drop in "DEI" modules,
  So any problem with the "IpcFramesOutRTOS"  modules?

       we found the frame rate of IpcFramesOutRTOS could be almost increased, and then SCD could receive 30fps.

       I'm not sure if there's enough computing power (IpcFramesOutRTOS) for TI to achieve 30 fps delivery to both 16CH-D1 encoding and 16CH-SCD at the same time.

  • This is not a performance issue with ipcFramesOut. The statistics shows the fps achieved by scd is 393 fps for 16 channels which means it can do max of only 24 fps / ch. You will have to optimize SCD to be able to meet 30 fps. Are you runnign c674 at 1 Ghz ? If you are not already runnign at 1 Ghz and if your 816x support 1 Ghz c674 you can try increasing c674 to 1GHz to increase processing power

        Basically the CPU loading should be 100%, But I found " [c6xdsp ]  483152: LOAD: CPU: 42.0% HWI: 0.7%, SWI:0.3%". It seems unreasonable. Right?

        I'm a little wondering about 30 fps for 16ch D1 encode/16ch CIF encode/16ch SCD at the same time.(I found the same phenonmenon in standard RDK ). Did you have idea about this?

        And you could see I set the encoding frame rate to 1, and the fps achieved by scd is 471 fps for 16 channels which means it can do 29 fps / ch. Our SCD cost 1ms around which means it could be real time processing.

        If you are not already runnign at 1 Ghz and if your 816x support 1 Ghz c674 you can try increasing c674 to 1GHz to increase processing power

  • For the 1Ghz question , the 816x datasheet lists the max frequency for each core for different parts . Part refers to the 816x device name. The 816x will have the device name printed on it like TMS320DM8167ACYG2 .Pls contact your TI FAE if you are not sure of the part you are using. For example if you are using PG1.1 TMS320DM816ACYG2  below frequency are supported:

    • 1200 - ARM
    • 1000 - DSP
    • 600 - HDVICP
    • 300 (A8 / 4) - SGX
    • 1600 – DDR3
    • 1066 – DDR2
    • 400 - EMIF
    • 380 – DMM
    • 250 - M3

    For Q1 from the logs I see only 1 HDVICP (HDVICP 0) is used. Have you modified the HDVICP mapping from default RDK mapping ? If this is the case IVA HD will not be able to do 16 ch D1 encode + 16 ch CIF encode. It doesn't matter if you have SCD or not .

    Further SCD was designed to operate at low fps in a background thread. So it does a DMA copy of the input frame to a processing buffer and frees the input buffer and does processing on the process buffer in a low priority thread. This ensure SCD does not hold the input buffer even if it is not real time.

    But as you have made SCD to 30 fps this means 16 ch x 30 fps  EDMA copy will be happening of SCD input frame resolution which will blow up the DDR b/w usage. If your SCD alogorithm is guaranteed to be realtime then you will have to remove the EDMA copy

     - No those lines just do cache invalidation. Modifying the flow requires clear understanding of existing flow. I would recommend you don't do it as you may end up introducing difficult to debug issue. As I mentioned fix the IVA map.

  • It is impossible to do 16 ch D1  @ 30 fps + 16 ch CIF @  30 fps in a single HDVICP. Only option is to do channel to iva mapping correctly.

    RDK supports API to dynamically switch HDVICP map assignment so if you switch between different modes in your application you can change the HDVICP map accordingly.

     

    So that means if encoder isn't real time, then it may cause frame drop only in Enc link's receiving, because the previous always wait for the notification from Enc link. Right?

        In the encLink if it finds a new input buffer , it will check if output buffer is available. If output buffer is not available, it will drop the input buffer without encoding.

    So if the encoder is not real time or the application is not freeing buffers in real time, encLink will drop input frames ensuring there is no fps drop in previous link.

    For this to work the number of input buffer should be greater than the number of output buffers. I had wrongly mentioned you have to increase the number of output buffers. You have to increase the number of input buffers to the encLink. Having a big number like 8/10 ensures number of input buffers > number of output buffers

  • By checking, our code flow is based on ti816x/multich_progressive_vcap_venc_vdec_vdis.c. And I found there's no the setting in this case.
    Is there something wrong? If not, what's the default setting?And how did it work?

  • Default setting is 7 buffers per channel if you dont change default.

  • I found the default value was in DeiLink_CreateParams_Init() in deiLink.h and its 7

    After I change the value to 10. I got almost got the same result as the default value.  Even I disable the link to SCD

    I check the parameters about Dup, Merge and I didn't find any individual setting for the individual output queue. I think the performance(fps) of Enc(D1/CIF) will influence the input fps of SCD. Right?

  • Pls attach your usecase file.I want to check you have connected the links correctly. It doesnt look like you have disabled SCD correctly. As you can see from the encLink stats the latency for encLink is very large like 300+ ms even in the SCD disabled case. As I mentioned previously SCD process happens in a low priority thread and this can delay the pipeline.

    in the above example, I try to set the 16CIF encoding fps to be 1 and I got following
    although the latency is 300ms around, the fps of 16chD1 is 30fps. Is there something wrong?
