8 bit LCD with AM335x

Hi,

There is an errata about the AM335x Color Assignments of LCD_DATA Terminals.
We assume this only for 16-bit and 24-bit connections.

Our customer is using 8 bit LCD with AM3356.
Just in case we would like to confirm there won't be such modifications necessary
in case of 8 bit LCD connection.

Currently there are using LVDS Transmitter(DS90C363B) as shown below.
Could you please let me know there won't be any problem with this connection.

Hi Prad,

You haven't commented the type of display that will be used. The operation modes supported by the AM335X LCD Raster Controller are given in section 13.3.5 of the AM335X TRM, Rev.H. For the LVDS Transmitter there is a separate forum: http://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/high_speed_interface/default.aspx

They will be using 7 inch LVDS TFT LCD(WVGA).
The lcd will have 16 bit interface but they will be connecting
only 8 bits from the AM335x.
Just in case I wanted to confirm that AM335x supports 8 bit LCD interface.

Prad,

The LCDC supports an 8-bit interface. There should be no problems.

Hello Prad, the 8 bit connection that you showed looks interesting. Did you check if it works. I am looking a similar solution with lower pin count and lesser color depth. I have been unable to find much literature on this until i came to this post
