Hi, community member,

Please let me confirm the following question.

Can we remove the EEPROM which is mounted on EVM in case of developing custom board?

I think that this answer is Yes. Is my understanding correct?

However, I would like to know where should we modify the code of u-boot and kernel which including the latest SDK.

So, please give me your advices for modification point.

Yes, you can remove the EEPROM. It's not a mandatory part.

Hi Kaka,

Here is where the EEPROM dependant code is located:

For U-Boot: <u-boot_dir>/board/ti/am335x/board.c

For Linux kernel 3.2 (SDK v6): <kernel_dir>/arch/arm/mach-omap2/board-am335xevm.c

For the Linux kernel 3.12 included in SDK v7, device trees are used, so there is no EEPROM dependant code. The board is initialized based on which device tree file has been loaded by the bootloader.

I am going to do the same thing.
Could you please let me know what specific modifications you have done for <u-boot_dir>/board/ti/am335x/board.c file to remove EEPROM dependency.
