Hello Sai,

You probably have a args file in the SD card or u-boot.img is missing. Also make sure that your SW11 SYSBOOT [0:4] settings are 00110b in order to boot from MMC0.

  Thanks for your quick response. I did not get any other messages apart from this. It simply just hangs there. Also i downloaded the prebuilt images from the "WL18xx_AMxxx_Platform_Integration_Guide" and it works fine. So i don't doubt on the SW11 settings. But when i build the u-boot from sdk it hangs. Please find my steps as below and let me know if i am doing anything wrong.

1) make u-boot-spl(generates u-boot.img and MLO)

2) Copied the u-boot.img and MLO to SD card boot partition.

The SDK is downloaded form the below link.

Also i would like to know what is the u-boot defconfig file it takes when i use make u-boot-spl? Is it compatible for GP EVM?

Hello Sai,

u-boot-spl  is image which is designed to be loaded over UART. If you want to boot from SD card you don't really need it.

Could you build the images through these steps by invoking defconfig file and check the result.

cd <sdk install dir>/board-support/u-boot-2014.07-g7e537bf
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=/home/sitara/<sdk install dir>/linux-devkit/sysroots/i686-arago-linux/usr/bin/arm-linux-gnueabihf- am43xx_evm_config
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=/home/sitara/<sdk install dir>/linux-devkit/sysroots/i686-arago-linux/usr/bin/arm-linux-gnueabihf-

Then copy the MLO and u-boot.img which are produced in <sdk install dir>/board-support/u-boot-2014.07-g7e537bf/ to your SD card.

  Sorry for the late response and thanks for your inputs. I built in the same way but on one of the board it boots and on the other boards it doesn't boot. I am surprised by this behavior. Both are AM437x GP EVM boards and i have made sure that SW11 and SW12 switches are same.

  Please let me know what could be the issue.

Hello Sai,

It sounds like a hw issue. Could you #define DEBUG mode in include/configs/ti_armv7_common.h header file and compare the 2 boot logs.

    Thanks for your reply. I will try as you mentioned and let you know .But the prebuilt images which i downloaded from the below link works fine.

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/WL18xx_AMxxx_Platform_Integration_Guide#Kernel_Integration_for_Linux_3.8 . Also when i use the prebuilt binaries from  "Ti-processor-sdk-linux-am437x-evm-01.00.00.00-Linux-x86-Install.bin". It won't work. Is there any difference between these ?

Yes, the U-Boot version on the first link is v2013.10 on the second is v2014.07. You can see the difference here.
