Dear Sir,
One customer of mine used to use Power PC platform for networking application and now would like to switch their hardware platform from Power PC to ARM AM335x. However, all the existed Applications and networking communication were developed based on Big Endian and customer has difficulty modify their use space application from Big Endian to Little Endian (customer has application source code but there are some libraries was purchased from 3rd party) so they would like to port TI Linux BSP which is Little Endian alignment to be Big Endian on their own.
By evaluating this task, they would like to learn from TI on silicon design point of view, from technical angle no matter how hard the effort will be. If AM335x design and all IP modules can support Big Endian instead of Little Endian since ARM core supports both Little and Big Endian?
Is there any limitation or IP design restrict prevent customer from doing it? A IP checklist is expected from customer to address this concern.
Any suggestion on this feasibility study is welcome too.
Best Regard,
Rich Chen
