am3359 low temperature fail

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65910, AM3359

Hello,

we have custom boards with am3359zcz (rev. 1.0). The CPU, DDR and power routing are copied from the corresponding eval board. We also added some custom peripherals such as audio and USB hubs.
All components are industrial grade.

The CPU hangs unexpectedly while running at low temperatures (<0 degree). Some boards hangs after starting, some are not starting at all. We already produced several hundreds of boards and almost all have this issue.

We made some tests with freeze spray and found that frrezing the TPS65910 chip causes first hangup and then large pulsations on the power rails. Freezing the am3359 also leads to this effect. Freezing the eval board does not cause the effect, the eval board is ok, but the chip on it is XAM3359ZCZ.

We also have turned off the smartreflex voltage control but this does not help.

Therefore two questions are:

1. Is the am3359 more sensitive to temperature changes then xam3359?

2. Does anybody have expirience regarding this and can help with hangup and startup problems?
